My Gearbox is GOOOONE

So sad but true!!!! yesterday arvo I was taking off from the lights next to my mates WRX, I gave it a bit, but not heaps, went to change into 2nd gear, let the clutch out and did a massive compression lock up cos my car got stuck in 1st gear!!! so there i was driving through Gymea in 1st gear, trying to find a safe spot to pull over with everyone looking at me wondering what the hell i was doing driving at 4500rpm and not changing gear!! me and a few mate tried to fix it but had no luck, so i had to drive for about 1km or so in 1st gear to a mates place in miranda, where it stayed the night. I got it towed and just got it home not long ago.

Has anyone had a problem like this??? my clutch is working fine and the gear leaver can move forward and back only, not sideways. It could possibly only be the cir-clip which would be Sweeeet but if its the box and a cog is struck or something then Im up the creek!!!!!

Im gonna drive it to my normal Mechanics first thing tomora, which isnt far from my place which is good! hes not sure what he can do but he said he would have a look! does anyone no someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to FTO's????

Anyone got any ideas on what it could be?????

The basic functions of gearboxes are the same. So any gearbox specialist should be able to tell you what the problem is likely to be.
Just call around your area and tell them what it is doing

Its all good my mechanic was able to fix it! it was only a gearbox cable that snapped. the part number was one letter off the lancers one but that was Ex Japan so he custom made one for me and its good as new!!!!! FEW so thats pretty lucky!
