A car going at 120kph is just as fast as another car going at 120kph.
The FTO was NOT made for dragging.....it's a little front wheel drive 2L car, non turbo (for most of us
) with great handling and even greater looks.
Hell there are family cars out there that will slaughter you at the lights, so trying to be the fastest in your FTO isn't really going to work without arseloads of money. You're better off trying to leave them for dead in the corners, and this is what the FTO can do.
And of course you can't forget the looks....and the comments that come with them!

0 - 100km in 7 flat or there around, better be a pretty decent family car
Yes SS's will get you and those type of cars will shat on you but you will own the VL's (excluding turbo's) V6 Commonwhores and Falcons and of course Camry's. So pretty much all you come across at the lights!
Yea you will get owned by most things that can launch in reality, but hey, its not whether you win or lose, its how you look when your doing it

I doubt that you really beat a EVO, if you did, you only beat the driver. Is like me beating Mil's Turbo MR2 at the first few wks when he got his car heeheheh is because the bit*ch have a brass button clutch, & his not use to it.

Get into some short course work - motorkhana, khanacross, whatever it's called. Get r-comp tyres, good brakes, limited slip diff, and plenty of seat time learning car control. Given enough time and effort, it's possible to get competitive results in an FTO!poster wrote:hey guys...im a noob with ftos just got it and dont know much about it..

I must admit that you are wasting your time trying to get speed from an FTO. I have a Mivec manual and I had a run at the lights and I got OWNED badly by this (this is embarassing)

I couldn't belive it! I almost died when I pulled up beside him at the next lights. I couldn't even turn off anywhere and hide. I have learn't my lesson from now on. FTO looks GREAT, goes ok.

There also 3.2L V6 version as well. Every time i get owned by another car, I always wind down the window & ask them if their car is stock ehehehe in that way at least i know if i got "raped" by a sleeper.

But yeah, just getting use to yr car and learning how to launch well is very important. Becuz of the MR2's launching abilities I have full confidence i can beat any (stock) jap car of the line and thats including a GTR

Pay respect to your master, the one who help you with your launch technique

Just to throw in my 2 cents,
Im 19, currently I own a modified 180sx, damn quick, no exterior mods, and im thinking of making a FTO my next purchase. Everyone just seems to want to have fast cars at my age and to be honest, I dont think its worth it. 1- everyone at this age is pretty much inexperienced and in one way or another at one time in their first year has one or more close calls that 'could' have had someone hurt.
Ive had my 180 for about a year and a half now, and I tell you, 80% of the time your at a set of lights no matter whats beside you, you end up launching it, its just too enticing not to do so. Now, I consider myself a good driver (dont roll your eyes at me lol) but the majority of near-misses and stupid things (from what ive seen anyway) is either caused by 1- someone who has no clue what they are doing and really shouldnt b driving in the first place, or 2.. a young idiot and/or his mates in a standard old family car trying to keep up and show off beside a higher performance vehicle.
Ill quit rambling in a sec lol, yes... any car can be quick depending how you drive it, but your better off forgetting about the speed factor and settle on something you enjoy driving and can make look good. Why would you want to speed or showoff in that way anyway? Its only going to put more wear on your car and put people in danger in the process (thinks about the 3grand worth of work installing new 320hp turbo) which is why im giving up the 180 sometime when I can, and settling down on something I can make look great to drive the misses around in
Dont make speed your number one choice in looking for a car or modifying your current ride.
phew all done
