Review/Question: SAAS Boss Kit

Post by Boris »

I bough a boss kit, SAAS. for my fto.
aparantly our boss kits are meant to be the same as 1996+ galants, CE lancers, magnas...

Anyway, to the point, i found that this boss kit it uterly crap, it doesn't fit properly, i had to put a number of washers underneath the main bolt to make it tight, secondly, my horn doesn't work because of it, and lastly, my indicators dont' turn off how they are meant to,

before you jump to conclusions, i have player around with it for a while, and it's just the design of the boss kit, has anyone had any experience with a SAAS boss kit?

When i have time i'm going to try and take it back, after i get a new one, any recommendations for an another one?

Well that depends on which type of steering wheel you got, airbag or non-airbag.

The non-airbag one is a piece of cake to change really, take the center piece off (where the horn is) use a size 10 socket (from memory), & unbolt the nuts & then take off your steering wheel, disconnect the horn wire, add the boss kit, & connect the horn wires back up again, then bolt the momo steering wheel on with screws that had provided.

For the airbag one, you can get the momo airbag range, but i don't know how to change it as i never done one before.

When I got mine, the guy just said its the same as CE Lancer. So i guess the CE Lancer is the way to go.

Yeah, I went with the "Boss" brand wheel - very tidy wheel but the actual boss kit was a bit dodgy (was said to also fit the CE lancer)
Unit went on ok, but I couldn't adapt the brass horn plate for the life of me :?
So I just re-wired the horn to a button on the dash!

Is that legal? I just rego'd my car and the first thing they did was check the horn and wiper fluid. If my horn didnt work or my washer bottle was empty I would have failed immediately... Are you allowed to rewire the horn to the dash?
