Speedo and odometer stopped working!!

Post by demonjay »

My speedo and odo stopped working. had another dash fitted and it killed that one as well. :x
I took it to a speedo place and they said the chip has been flashed and they cant reprogram it cause they dont have the proggy cause its an import :x

Anyone have any ideas what would cause this?, and, does anyone have an idea where i could find a dash pod for a gpx manual with under a 100.000 k's on the clock (this is not illegal and the k's can apparently be wound up to meet the current est. k's).
Cheers

I would say either the delimiter chip is playing up and killing it, or the speed sensor on the gearbox... other than that the ecu possibly... we had a similar problem on the UK site, but it seems to be down at the moment...

Cheers for the heads up DIGGIDY,
I ended up tracking down that post in the UK forums, I ended up emailing Jason(G9NEO) and he said that it was caused by the alternator,
had the alternator changed a couple of weeks ago... This fixed it! It's due to the regulator being faulty and at high load, there a voltage spikes on the car and knocks out the speedo as it's the only component in the car not voltage protected
Thanks Jason...

Now to find an alternator!!......anyone?
Just posted this info up for anyone else that may come across this frustrating problem.
