Jumping Rev's on Tacho

Post by DUK35Y »

Hi guys just got a problem driving back to my office with my tacho. All was good untill doing about 120 along the M4 suddenly tacho starts going nuts jumping all over the shop like a mexican jumping bean. 8O Then all of a sudden just sits on zero and didn't move so I pulled off the expressway and drove the long way to see if there was any other problems. There was none from what I could tell gear changes are all good and car seems to be running fine.Just the dodgy needle. I'm hoping that it's just the connection behind the dash.
I was wondering if any one else has had this problem and if it could be anything else maybe another cable somewhere. Doesn't seem to be a problem at the momment engine wise just annoying when driving in tippy mode.
Any help would be tops before I start pulling the dash appart or looking for the controler under the engine.
Thanks guys

I have a similar problem with my tacho.

It will be sitting at around 2000rpm then it will suddenly shoot up to 7000rpm.
I can't seem to work out whats causing it

On the pluse side there are plenty of people on this site who can offer constructive advice and probably will do so.
Just not me unfortunately 8O
