Well, my FTO GPX is quickly coming up for its 100k service. I know this will be an expensive one, with replacing the timing belt and various other bits and pieces here and there.

I was wondering where everyone else has taken their car for servicing in the Melbourne area and what a 100k service set them back!

I would suggest you do yourself a favour and source the parts yourself. You will save a bit of money by doing so. This is what I got for my mechanic for the 100k service.

Fuel Filter: Ryco Z441 ($22 Mitsu)
Oil Filter: Ryco Z411 ($15 Mitsu)
Timing Belt: Gates T987 ($90 repco)
Power Steering / Aircon Belt: 6PK-1080 ($14 Mitsu)
Spark Plugs Iridium: NGK Iridium BKR6EIX-11 ($15 each - Mitsu)
Mobil 1 Oil: $65 (autobarn)
Radiator Fluid:
Gearbox Oil:

You may also need cam-seals and other seals, depending on the engine. But there pretty cheap anyways.

I just recently replaced my Power Steering / Aircon Belt and my Alternator Belt, cost bout $60/$100 respectively!

As for the rest, well worth buying parts for sure, but where did you get the work done?

Is there a good Import servicing center anywhere?

or someone that specialises in FTO's etc?

90% of Melbourne members had went to SL Motorsport for services, or panel work by now.

Is it just a mechanic or is it an import specialist?

i have an suto electrician near me, who's son (now a mechanic) seems to know a bit about FTO's was thinking of talking to him too

Hmmm are you asking about SL Motorsports? They just call SL Motorsports..

The owner use to do complances for all imports before RAW came in, & before that he was a Porsche mechanic.

He still service Porsche for few mates, & i must say after watching him working of them, if you can fix a Porsche, you can fix any imports & local's holden/ford.

Lilydale is a long way to travel, unless they do imports specifically or can do it cheaper.

what do you think a 100k service will cost (all inclusive)?

Has anyone had their 100k service recently? Know a good place? or even a cost?

Just that i heard that they can be expensive.....

Easiest is to ring a couple places, and get a quote. in melbourne SL Motorsports seems to be the go with people around here...

Make your self a list of all the parts you may need, and another list of the stuff that you want done! then use that list get quotes.

i strongly reccoment that while your getting the timing belt changed, to change all the seals, like cam seals... etc...

the cost all depends on what you want done, the definition of "major service" is diffrent from person to person.

mine cost around the 1k mark because i had a lot done.

your best bet, is to go to a place that has done a couple major services for FTO's! because they may be a import mechanic, never done an FTO before...

things that go wrong

water pump leaking ....

cam plates (sandwich plates leaking)

alternators

the first two are big ticket items to get fixed PROPERLY!!!! each is at least a full day worth of work plus parts

alternators aren't too bad and we have a supplier in sydney who ships on an exchange basis so they're pretty cheap...

i JUST had my alternator replaced - cost me $930 all up!!!!

How much can u get the part for?

it cost me $590 plus GST

Damn is it gold plated. I had mine fixed for under 200 bucks but I did the removal and install myself but still.

Man $930 bucks to replace the alternator? I agree with the Dr, you alternator better be made out of gold.

I had mine done around $350 including labor.
