Coolant and Intake Manifold

Post by Dr_Jones »

I'll be stuffed if I can get the alternator out from underneath the car. I am going to remove the intake manifold instead and change my plugs while I'm there. The service manual says to drain the coolant first?

I see no mention of this in any DIY articles. Is it something that needs to be done?

It is a little tight but you can get it out this way. I'd disconnect the battery before removing the alternator as it sometimes blows the 80A fuse which aint cheap.

There is a coolant line that runs to the throttle body so if you take that off a bit of coolant will come out. You don't really need to drain the coolant though. Just be careful when removing the lines from the t/b
