Vibrations when accelerating
Can bad sway bar bushes causes driveline vibrations when accelerating? Mine are bad and the swaybar can move quite easily left to right until the arm hits a bend and wont go through the mount, can provide video if necessary.
I experience these vibrations about 80% of the time when accelerating and the more you accelerate the worse it becomes, almost as if something is unbalanced.
Also it has new wheels and tyres that were just balanced and it made little difference.
And poly engine mounts all round. the issue was mildly present before the mounts were used.

I wouldn't expect the swaybar to be able to cause such vibrations but you can always disconnect it to test.
Sounds more like driveshafts to me

+1 on driveshaft, might have a bent one.
Put it up on stands, get someone in it to start it & put into first, you get under & have a look.

So it turns out it is the inner CV joints, they're not very happy. To make it worse they are the viscous lsd inner CV joints so fixing them or replacing them is next to impossible. Any ideas?Bennoz wrote:+1 on driveshaft, might have a bent one.

The inners can be reco'ed. Any driveshaft shop worth a buck should be able to do them.vanadinite wrote:So it turns out it is the inner CV joints, they're not very happy. Re: Vibrations when accelerating
Took it down today. the cv dude said it only happens at high 2dn gear, all 3rd gear and goes away mostly in 4th. He said it could be the inners but it could also be the gearbox apparently, any thoughts?

If the inners are fucked like you said....get them fixed first.
Then report back.

Re: Vibrations when accelerating
No point spending $300+ to get the shafts fixed to then find out it was the gearbox the whole time. I'm not asking for a diagnosis over the internet, just wanting to know if the gearbox can cause these sort of issues. Driveshaft shop said if the shafts were definitely the issue it would be present in all gears at all times not just some of the time. Yes, gearbox can cause those issues. I agree, if it were a driveshaft then it would be more consistent.
But, stranger things have happened.

Re: Vibrations when accelerating
Personally I would swap the shafts and see how you go. It's only a 20 minute job either side and could save you hassle of doing a box.
Having said that, my dartboard says box.

Bring a carton over and we can do a box swap. Done it twice now. The only hard part is lining the gearbox back up .
