Is it possible to get a new remote? If so where from and are they easy to program?
Thanks

FTO's only came out with with a button in the key. If you have a remote, its aftermarket. Mister minute has a book of remotes. If you are really lucky, they will have one the same. If not then you are after a complete new system

Re: Replacement Remote for 99 FTO
do they all get replaced/disabled during compliancing or something? I've never seen one with a working factory alarm/immobiliser.dstocks wrote:FTO's only came out with with a button in the key.
Col_Ford; if you still have a remote for the alarm, then have a look at the back of it and/or whatever you can see with the battery cover off; there's usually a model number/code or something to identify it.

No but the stock system is one of the weak points of the car, so most of them get replaced before they even get to Australia.BorepYano wrote:do they all get replaced/disabled during compliancing or something? Re: Replacement Remote for 99 FTO
Sorry I should have said I have the original single button remote key but it doesn't have anything inside it. So I am better to go with an aftermarket system? Are they easy to wire in to the central locking?
Thanks

Re: Replacement Remote for 99 FTO
Get one that comes with solenoids. The stock FTO solenoids are rubbish. Jaycar will sell a decent replacement that is easy enough to fit. You want one with 2 fobs and 4 solenoids (they come with 4 but you only need 2)
