Installing LEDs for dash gauges
Hi
I'm in the middle of installing LEDs for my dash. I noticed Climate Control's LCD does not light up with 12v LEDs. I'm talking about the 2x T4 or T5 bulbs at the back of the LCD screen. When I checked, they are 5v with 'Ignition On' and 7v with 'Park Lights On' or other way around, but definitely not getting a 12v. Has anyone come across this issue before?
Other 2 LEDs for buttons of the climate control work fine with 12v LEDs.
Cheers and thanks.

They normally dim when you put your lights on.

They do. But I reckon that function won't work if I replace factory bulbs with LEDs.. obviously. I'm happy if they just light up and stay with the same brightness.

I'm pretty sure people have already done this. I can't remember who, but someone will probably pipe up about it soon enough

Thanks. I saw that post. But for some reason, 12v LEDs don't light up behind the climate control's LCD panel.

Potentially stupid question, but figured I should ask.. The polarity isn't the cause, right?prageeth wrote:Thanks. I saw that post. But for some reason, 12v LEDs don't light up behind the climate control's LCD panel.

Well LEDs will only work one way around, so very probableMoused wrote:Potentially stupid question, but figured I should ask.. The polarity isn't the cause, right?prageeth wrote:Thanks. I saw that post. But for some reason, 12v LEDs don't light up behind the climate control's LCD panel.

I currently have LEDs in the climate control, they do dim when the lights are turned on.

Thanks, but I was aware of it. On these dials negatives are on the top and positives are below. I checked it in the first place.kiz wrote:Well LEDs will only work one way around, so very probableMoused wrote:Potentially stupid question, but figured I should ask.. That's great. I might give mine another go. I'm pretty sure my LEDs are not dimmable.Supplanter wrote:I currently have LEDs in the climate control, they do dim when the lights are turned on.

Seemed like you would've, but figured I'd ask just in case... Nothing worse than banging your head against a wall trying to figure something out, and the cause is so simple.prageeth wrote:Thanks, but I was aware of it. Yes you are right. That has happened to me a lot of times, simple things seem to be forgotten easier.Moused wrote:Seemed like you would've, but figured I'd ask just in case...
