Hey guys,
My name is Lucas and I currently drive an old corolla.
I have always wanted a FTO (just something about them) and now have the cash to get one.
Im just looking for some advice as to what I should be looking out for when buying these cars?
I am looking to get an Auto (don't drive manual) and I am unfussed about GPX vs GR.
I am going to go out tomorrow morning and take a look at this one:
http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/detai ... =3&sdmvc=1
I was also thinking of getting a state roads inspection.
Does the price seem reasonable?
Any advice and thoughts is most appreciated!
Thank you
EDIT: Just saw the 'what to look for when buying' thread will give that a good read now

WTTC.
just FYI, that carsales link... that's probably not a 1999 model; the front bar is pre facelift, so 97 or earlier.
there are a few in the for sale section on the forum as well, which much be worth a look at.

Yeah the year and model type is wrong - I guess they couldn't figure out how to post it correctly.
In the description they say:
Mitsubishi FTO GR 2.0L V6 sports auto full y imported built in 1995 imported in 2000
Something about that dealer car though doesn't sit right with me...
Theres this one which is only 20 minutes from me which looks ok

And also this one

Looks tidy enough from the pictures. If the mileage is genuine and its straight and has no roof rust, that isnt a terrible price. Wouldnt say its a bargain though.

get this one, clearly it's got so much downforce it can hang upside downbrains wrote: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/rockdale ... 1061639319

From someone that's had a GR, get a GPX; they sound pretty amazing when hitting mivec, always had that little bit of buyer's remorse with mine.
what's your budget?

Welcome...
If you are going Auto ... Get a GPX... GPX is a more powerful car, so when comparing a GR to GPX in manual, the GPX wins.
At least a GPX Auto will most likely beat a GR manual ... But not as quick as a GPX manual... Well, so we have seen ... However, depending on driver skill as well...
And yeah, MIVEC sounds nice, which is only in he GPX ...

Re: Looking At Buying A FTO
Welcome! +1 for the GPX (unless you're going to boost the GR
) even stock exhaust with open pod has an awesome sound. I've also got an auto and while it can be a little sluggish at low RPM, it's definitely still got a bit of go up high. Tiptronic mode is a good lazy-manual. (just don't try to use it while in Drive
)
Good luck with your hunt!

Re: Looking At Buying A FTO
Thanks for the replies guys.
Ill try and see if I can get a clean GPX.
I called the dealer to organize to head up and look at their FTO tomorrow but its not running currently as they are waiting to replace the altenator, they also mentioned its not been driven much lately. Is this cause for concern?
