Hey guys, this topic has been going for quite a bit, but i still havent found a solution.
My 3rd gear and now it seems my 4th gear synchros are going.
A had a person say a gearbox overhaul is needed but that costs $1 100.
What's the easiest way to fix this problem?
Is there anyway you can strengthen the gearbox and fix the synchros for under $1k?
Thanx Guys

Umm, sorry for hijacking your thread. i'll go away now
put the redline trans fluid in and it should make your syncro's feel a lot better until they're screwed and have to be replaced.

A lot.How much does it cost to strenghten gearboxes?

Depends on what extent you wish to go, a combination of peace of mind, expected horsepower output, clutch choice and funding.
If you were completely paranoid like I was with my last car (Liberty RS Turbo) you would replace all the synchros (I believe Mitsu use doubles as standard on the FTO) and have all the gears shot-pinned and crack tested, replacing any gears that weren't up to the task.
It's been a fair few years since I had it done but I wouldn't expect much change out of $2k?? if you didn't need to replace any gears.
Cheers
