Need some comments on these problems (Thanks)

Post by ckboss2 »

1) Battery: when turn on battery, the voltage meter shows 12V.
When I start the engine, 14V. It Seems quite normal.
HOWEVER, when I turn on the head light (night time) or Airconditioner
(day time), the voltage meter shows less than 12V. What is the cause of
this problem? Recharge battery fuse is new.

2) Engine stall (or sudden turn off).
When engine is cold, the engine does not start properly. Need to step
on the peddle for a while till the engine gets warmed up. Some of the
people said, clean the start motor or stepping motor but will it really
work with no problem? OH! Also, when i turn on the airconditioner to max,
sometimes engine turns off as well.

2) Gear ratio: Seems like the gear ratio is not correct.
From 3rd gear to 4th gear, often does not shift.
It is getting annoyed and have to change to tiptronic to change gear.
Is it a ECU fault? T_T

3) Need to get a new washer bottle for the wiper. It is got a crack and
took it to panel beater. They patched but still licking (I guess their patch
skill is sh*t). Is there any way that i can replace or fix it cheap?

4) How to change a gear knob? :D

Can anone give me some comment please ^^
Thank you very much guys. Cheers

Get you alternator check, since you in Melbourne, you can go to SL Motorsport. Heres the address as below

39 Osborne Ave Springvale 3171
PH: (03) 9548 5837

Could be related to number 1, so same advice as number 1.

Try a ECU reset, disconnect the battery for at least half an hour, then connect it, and drive like you normally would, it would be weird at the start as the ECU & Tip will try to learn the setting again according to your driving style, but it should be fine after few hrs later.

Ask SL Motorsport, they might able to get you a second hand one or fix it for you.

dont worry about it, the voltmeter is only a guide! If you really want to know the voltage get under the bonnet with a multimeter.

Stepper motor or ISC for sure. Try cleaning the stepper motor its real easy and usually works. Typical symptoms of a stepper motor fault is:

When AC is turned on rpm drop
Put the car in nutural revs rise more than normal etc etc.

what speed you trying to change into 4th? If car speed is too low, the tranny wont shift.

So restarting ECU is by unplug the battery and half hour later, put it back
together.

My current Gear change status is:
Gear 1: 0 ~ 20km/h
Gear 2: 20 ~ 30 km/h
Gear 3: 30 ~ 40(sometimes 50)km/h
Gear 4: So on.

Not so smooth change. When I bought my car first time and till the last
service, it was really smooth. But now, it is delaying to change gears.
I think one of the mechanics in Carnegie did something wrong to my gear.
I suggest people who lives in Melbourne, do not ever go to any mechanics
in Carnegie. They are all under-qualified (But the price is damn high).
Somemore, I do not know what material they use for break fluid, it
damaged my break that had to reconditioned by break plus (Cost me
fuxxing $800 dollars). Engine oil also. They used cheap castrol engine
oil that cause engine stall problem (According to Mechanics in Springvale).

However, I will definitly reset my ECU and bring it to Mechanics.
Thanks a lot guys.
