With 17" you would normally run 45 series. 35 series on 18's are the closest match and on stock shocks I found them quite hard. 40's would be better, but still too hard on most roads (pot holes etc)

You also need to factor in width. A 235/40/17 is about the same as a 215/45/17dstocks wrote:With 17" you would normally run 45 series. 35 series on 18's are the closest match and on stock shocks I found them quite hard. 40's would be better, but still too hard on most roads (pot holes etc)

Your words comfort me. I have the feeling it won't be as nicely aligned once it goes back on though. But with the chips and dented bonnet, I'm not sure how much I can care.Daniel2019 wrote:Bar's easy mate, easiest way to do it is take it out while its still attached to the rheo. Just undo the 4 bolts that hold the rheo and undo the actual bar from the front sides and unscrew your plastic guards.bjk wrote:Unfortunately, I've damaged the same light both times. Can I fit a drivers side light in the passenger space?
But I've got ObsidianRadio and kiz giving me a hand soon. Jack has a light I can borrow, so hopefully we can bend the bonnet back and swap things over. Taking the bar off won't be fun though.

Just make sure you put it on flat ground as it would normally sit and take note of how tight everything was done up and you should be fine.
I fix cars.

When u go to put it back on put all the bolts in for the bar almost all the way tight and get a mate to push the bar up where it's meant to sit and tighten that last few nipsbjk wrote:Your words comfort me. True. It'll likely end up at a shop again for real repair as well, so I guess it doesn't really matter as long as it's on..

As Matt said. But just be careful not to crack the little tabs if you tighten it too much... done that before

I fix cars.

Re: BJK's '95 GPX
I find the rear bar more annoying, except for the fact that at least the car doesn't need jacking up.kiz wrote:You can rest assured, I've done front bars before... Not a first for me
But I find that the front is simpler to align. It's those damn small bolts under the rear lights that annoy me

Yeah, took me a few days to get it aligned properly. Fenders we're even more of a b**ch though.Technikhaus wrote:I find the rear bar more annoying, except for the fact that at least the car doesn't need jacking up.kiz wrote:You can rest assured, I've done front bars before... Not a first for me

The rear bar is only an issue because you went for an aftermarket one. The front bars are piece of cake to doTechnikhaus wrote:I find the rear bar more annoying, except for the fact that at least the car doesn't need jacking up.kiz wrote:You can rest assured, I've done front bars before... True. I'll just have to ask my house mate to move her car 'cause it lives on the bit that's all concrete without a strip of dead grass down the middle, haha.

Yeah, unless you plan on squeezing under the front bar, then it needs to be jacked up, annoyingly...

I really need to get a jack. and stands. and an impact wrench. and sockets. maybe next Christmas I should just ask for an entire auto parts store.Technikhaus wrote:Yeah, unless you plan on squeezing under the front bar, then it needs to be jacked up, annoyingly...
