can the roof be pannel beated?

Post by andie066 »

a few weeks back my car got into a crash front head light and front bumper was dammaged. it wasnt my fault so im getting them fixed for free, but the bad thing that happend was that when i was driving it when it was dammaged the bonnet flew up and smashed my roof.. the pannel beater said its 4000 to get a new roof. and insurance wont pay to fix it, had this ever happend to anyone? the dents arnt that bad i think it can be done.

Since is not your fault why wouldn't the insurance fix the problem? Anyway in short, you can't fix the roof, as it affect the rigidity & dynamic of the car.

Yeah it depends how badly damaged the roof is. Some panel beaters can do amazing jobs.

If it's hail-like damage, you can even do this as a paintless repair. But something tells me your damage is much bigger than this.

It depends on the damage like some of you are saying. How bout you take it to a panel beater and ask them?

yeah i was thinking about targa... but that would be expensive yeah? it would also involve me getting a new roof anyway? :? but yeah.. the dents are not that bad.. just goes down about 2cm the deepest.
the pannel beater said it will cost 4000 to get a new roof.. so yeah.. i donno.. i was also thinking of just denting it more so it would at least look even :P hehehehe
or roof scoops?:P
omg the crash was quoted 6000 and the roof 4000
thats 10,000 :?
>_< thats enough for a turbo hahaha

Hahahha & thats only for a basic setup for a turbo, if you going to do a higher level job, u have to put more dent onto your car hahaahhaa  Hey think of them as speed holes ahahahah

Ok on the serious side, whats the diameter of your dent, cause unless is pretty big, i don't c why can't a panel beater do a "patch" on it. Maybe the guy u spoke to is try to rip u off.......

Ye, i donno about the new roof... try and maybe find another quote or something, but it is true that if the damage is bad then it's easier for them to just cut it out and put it in the whole roof, they can do it panel by panel but most of them can't be stuffed as it's a much harder job.

I don't know about targa top.. that would require some strengening and lot's of certifications :|

Speaking of cost. I got quoted 1.2k for some one reversing into my front at 8km/h and the guy said it will probably be 2.5k as he has to align everything perfectly... :|

I did a little askin around about targa top and yeah forget it. I was told that it would probably be easier to just make the whole thing a soft top, you would need a serious amount of strengthening or basically an entire roll cage to maintain the rigidity of the chassy.

I was told it could be done though, but you would be looking somewhere between $4-6000 for it

the diametre is about 20cm? there is 2 one on eatch side :?
looks like it can just be poped back by using a hammer.. there is no sharp dents, and the paint is perfect so yeah. i donno.. hehehe:P
targa cost soo much too hehehe omg i dont know what to do
hehehe leave it as speed holes maybee:P

Do you only have 3rd party and not full comp?

If you have full comp, they should cover it, but it would be a second seperate claim to the original as it happened later on.

was there anyone "official" or anything from the insurance or tow truck driver or ssomeone who said it would be fine to drive ? cant you jsut say it happened "shipping" the car from the accedent.
I think you should speak to a legal adviser, because that sounds very unfair

Panel Beater In Melbourne (Give my name)

Post by ckboss2 »

Hello, there.
Seems like u live in Melbourne.
I give u a phone number for the panel Beater.
They are very friendly, efficient and miracle finish.
However, what is the best part is, they cost quite cheap to fix.
When you or anyone (live in melbourne) wanna fix your body,
please call "Miracle Smash Repair: 03 93874636"
Ask Joey. He is a manager there and say Kim (drives Red FTO)
introduced to panel beater.

I am not working there but been dealing with them for
4 years already. Still they have the best price so far.
