Is there anything I should cover up when washing the engine bay?

Alternator, podfilter.

Yeah just cover your alternator and air filter if its exposed. Don't blast away at sensors and stuff. She'll be right.

turn off your alarm..and cover the alarm unit.
I also remove my battery.
