shocks/struts?

Post by bigjiz »

Hey all

I'm looking at springs and shocks, as taz pointed out to me yesterday that kyb do a good shock. I've googled the sh*t out of them but all I can find are rears, is there any place I could pick up some fronts aswell? Cause a few brands I've looked at only do rears too.

The fronts are the same as a Volvo S40.

Although the way i see it, you can either spend just under 700 replacing all struts and springs, or you can get a set of coilovers for a mere 100 more

There are no DBA rotors left and you cannot get them anymore in Australia
And they are sh*t as coilovers and will feel like sh*t compared to shocks and springs... especially for a daily driver

The post was copied and pasted from a post i made in the suspension thread - please excuse me Shane

Coilovers are preference too. Many people say the D1 coilovers are cheap and nasty, and the people who have tried them whom ive talked to say the complete opposite.
Im merely suggesting options

Look for a Jap coilover, not a Taiwanese coilover.

But yes i know a lot of people with BC golds that are happy, stef and thomas for that matter.

Probably best to stick with well known taiwanese ones.

I would still recommend a good shock/spring setup over coilovers for a daily driver. I have RSR-Ti2000 springs and I would rate them over king springs.

Agree 100%. A lot Australia roads are just too rough for all but the softest settings. Iv had coilovers. Rattles the car to pieces. A good shock spring combination is better for 80% of people. Also, if one part of the coilover goes, you will be replacing the whole unit. Unless you are doing track work, the coilovers just arent worth it.

I think you have to get a really light spring weight, stef had BC's in his RX8 and didnt feel harsh at all.

Much newer car though, if that possibly makes a difference.
