Fuel Cut Defender

Post by G_A_V »

I was reading a guide to modifiying the skyline na engine, and they mentioned using a fuel cut defender, for under $50 it gave 2kw difference at the wheels, has anyone else tried this ?
aparently the article described that a fule cut defender tells the ecu that the car is under a lighter load and therefore the ecu leans out the air/fuel ratio. Im not sure if it can be used on mivecs or not because the article says it hooks up to the air intake sensor

the article said that most people thought they were only for turbos, but they actually work for na cars too, obviusly not as much difference as a turbo car, but 2 kw gain for under $50 sign me up

Fuel cut defenders are only for turbo cars

Stock cars (turbo cars) need this to get rid of a "boost limit" programmed into them

Guys,

An electronic FCD is just basically an electronic clamp on a circuit that alters an electronic signal to fool the ECU.

Most just have 4 wires........ground, power and 2 to intercept the signal from the sensor in the engine bay before it hits the ECU. (you cut your loom)

ie. if used on a boost controlling circuit the ECU thinks it's running 13psi when you actually have a Blitz DSBC controlling it to 18psi. (I used to have one on my RS Turbo)

It could be used for anything really................

I think it may even be the same way most MIVEC controllers alter the changeover point for the cams.

Although, don't see how it could be used to alter the signal on the factory ECU for boost when the car is not equipped with a turbo. :-)

Cheers

Chris
