accelleration issues

Post by okamitengu »

looking for ideas guys.

when i put my foot down (or just take off) accelration is sluggish. the engine revs high, then drops dopwn and on the downward swing the power kicks in and the car takes off..

i no longer have any pick up

spinning the wheels is out!!

any suggestions of where to look .. im no super car guy!

my gut says diff or clutch or gearbox. that should help im sure .. .lol! i have to let the clutch half to 3/4 out to take off, im pretty sure that's an issue. it feels like im taking off in the wrong gear. if you know what i mean... high revs then she struggles to go. if i am driving and i put my foot down, same result, high rev then drops THEN kicks in.

you guys know your sh*t, throw me some lines!

ideally i should take it to someone to check it, but its my work car and i just dont have a chance right now.

im happy to answer questions to help narrow down the fault if it helps...

+1^

When you get the flywheel out check it over for heat stress (blue coloured metal) and cracks, if you find any you should replace it.

All the more reason to replace it with a lightweight option

Ive had changed heaps of clutches and only 1-2 I reckon needed to have the flywheel machined.

Yeah ^^^

It's a bit of a modern day furphy. Bit like having to get your disc rotors machined at every pad change.
