Replacing alternator with battery connected?

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if it's possible to replace an alternator while the battery is still connected? Are there any consequences to doing this?

My alarm is retarded and goes off when the battery is disconnected, I don't think it was wired up properly when it was replaced a few years ago as it's meant to disable when the keys are in the ignition.

Anyway, so will there be any consequences to replacing the alternator with the battery still connected?

Unless the car is running then you should not have a problem.

Make sure you tape up the big terminal when you take it off the alternator or at least wrap it in a rag as that is direct power from the battery so if you touch it against any part of the car you could fry things that's about the only thing you need to be careful of

Are you familiar with the method of changing an alternator?

I have a fair idea of how to change it, apparently it's easier on a GR as it can be taken out front the top.

Disconnect the speaker on alarm?

The battery backup keeps it going, I'll have to unscrew the system to get to it. I don't want to be messing around with the alarm when I have no idea how to fix it

pull the fuse able link in the fuse box.

HAHAHAHA Nope out from side or underneath via removing exhaust

Either disconnect or remove fuse for battery or have fun with the shorts

Can you just take the pulley off, then the belt?

Think so! After pulling link, you will need to see if there is still 12volts at the alternator end terminal.

Not trying hard enough then. With a pole you should easily be about to break it. Using a ring spanner?
