Interior Lights

Post by shadowarrior »

On my 99 Pajero I have noticed that when I turn off the ignition and take my keys out, it automatically turns on the interior reader lamps. Stays on for some time even if I just get off the car and close the door. If I then lock the car from outside it turns the lights off straight away. Pretty handy feature in my opinion. Can we have the interior lights on our FTO working like that?

Yes, you need a time delay relay, wired up so when the ignition is turned on or the car is locked it disables the relay and enables it when ignition is turned off, these can be made with a few parts from Jaycar for about $10 or can be bought off of eBay.

There are also alarm systems that have this feature.

EDIT: I believe there is also a interior light delay kit being sold at Jaycar for $20.

My alarm (Viper 5904) has this feature, it's pretty awesome.
I think my old alarm also did this, it's quite standard on any reasonably modern alarm, my old one was from ~2006 I think?

The viper 5904 is compatible with their smartphone app? Mind if I ask how much did you guys pay for it (+ install)?

Yes it is, if you get the add-on unit for it.
I paid about 1100 for the unit plus some extra sensors, and did the install myself over a weekend :)
