Advice on buying an FTO

I bought a 95 gpx about 2 and a half years ago from Melbourne, had 175xxxkm on it and the only problem it had was gearbox relatded, which was just a pretty rare problem. it all depends on what "sort" of kms its done. highway kms/regular long trips are better then lower kms which have been stop start.

So will a good condition FTO at that kind of mileage still run reliably and not constantly need repairs? What major things should have been done (like timing belt etc)

recent timing belt change is a good start, if you've ever seen the engine bay in an fto, its a bastard to work on the belt side of the block.

I paid 6.5k for my red Version R a year and a half ago. 170,000kms on the clock when I bought it and haven't had any mechanical problems apart from noisy tappets and a squeaky suspension bush.

The DE3A GP VERSION R has a mivec right? What are your opinions on these? I'd beat them down on price a bit.

All version R FTOs are MIVEC.

DE3A basically just means it isn't a GS.

None of those are version Rs. The silver one is actually advertised wrong.. it has climate control, a standard wing and the Version R didn't come in that colour (only red, white and black) Couldnt tell what it was because the VIN # comes up with no results on the decoder search.

The last one (white with yellow number plate) is a club car owned by Xeno.

The first one, L00OOX is a car that is local for me - its 5 minutes away. Apparently had a hard life.

haha I actually was looking at the seats and stuff thinking that doesn't look like a gp version r and I also tried the VIN and it wasn't a valid one. Sooo how does Xeno treat his cars? haha

the person is a dipshit and cant tell the year of make from the year of compliance. It would have been complied in 2003, not made. Its a prefacelift too, so its a 94, 95 or 96

Sounds like someone to not buy one of these cars off haha.. As far as I know 2000 was the last year these were made and there weren't very many in that year either.

Motor registry 'can' class the car as a 2003 model, thereby the car will and can be labelled as a 2003.

That VIN is the one it was given when complianced here in Australia, the only VIN the decoder recognises is the one given to the car from the factory, starting with either DE3A or DE2A.
