Power Locking playing up!

Post by bass_twitch »

Hi all
Ok so I've got a bit of an issue and it has been getting gradually worse

Background: I don't have an alarm, and pretty sure I've got the stock central power locking and immobiliser.

Problem: The lock/unlock button on the remote will only sometime lock/unlock the car - other times the indicators will just flash as if it is working, but not actually unlock/lock it. It almost seems as though the system doesn't have the power to consistently lock/unlock. However because the indicators still flash as per normal, I assume the battery in the remote is fine? There is also the odd occasion where upon pressing the button once it seems the doors unlock and lock again all in one motion.

I don't know much about the central/power locking system, (guess I'm about to learn), - but ideas of where to start?

Tldr: central locking playing up - don't think it's the remote battery, ideas?

Mine does this occasionally too.

Ive heard that it can be from dirt and crap in your locking system which can stop the lock from staying fully open in which case it will flick back into the locked position, or it could be worn out mechanisms.
I fix cars.
