Maf sensor issue

Post by Lawso »

Hey guys :) sorry it's been a while, i've been too busy driving my car

Gearbox went back in and everything is all sweet other than one issue. lachlan put a mivec in my GX

by saying that, foot flat to the floor, revs climb, then it feels like its holding back from about 3k to 5k then kicks and goes like normal.

driving back from the gong yesterday, the engine light came on, so i unplugged the maf/map/whatever turned the car off, plugged it back in, and turned the car back on, light went off, and i didn't see it again.

how does fix stupid maf/map/whatever sensor? i want all my power back!

In the centre of the sensor there is a metallic bar that runs from top to bottom of it, you need to clean that.

There is special stuff you can buy to do it from most auto shops, but metho is just as good I reckon.

Could I hazard a guess as to say that MAF sensor sat on your driveway for 3 months while the box was out?

Yeah, he swapped out a perfectly good motor.

If you have time over the weekend, give me a buzz I'll have a quick squizz at it.
No promises I'll fix it, but it may be 1 of a few things. Wouldnt know till I see what exactly it's doing.

Just remember it's double demerits. :troll:

Edit: also contact me prior to ensure I'm home.
