Replace whole gearbox or just cable mount?

Post by den0va »

Okay so as in the title I am just wondering if it is better to buy a whole new gearbox or just replace the cable mounts? As my car has had trouble getting into 2nd and 4th in the past, the mechanic who did work on the car welded it up as a patch up.

Replace the mount with a brand new one. Welding wont allow the cable to flex as it should.

This ^^

It's not an expensive part, found on dozens of models of Lancer & Magna.

Okay thanks, so a lancer or magna cable mount would fit on the FTO? Would I have to make sure it's the same year as my FTO etc or what should I look for?

You will need a manual FTO cable.

To be honest, I'd go straight to Mitsubishi & buy a brand new one. The part itself has been revised several times over the years to make it stronger. You might pay a few bucks extra, but worth the piece of mind.

Part number is MD953260

is that the right number? The guy looked it up but said it wasn't on Mitsubishi Australia's database. Is that the japanese number? >.<
