FTO's are damn nice cars, and reliabilty are awsome if their maintained!

There isnt really a major fault with the FTO. Head gasket, very rare. If it does happen, most likely cause is the cooling system isnt peoperly maintained.

I hear a lot of cam seal, rocker cover leaks. Use the right oil imo, thin synthetics, are a major cause in leaks, seapage through piston rings etc. Its known in a lot of engine especially the LS1, not to use too think oils cause it causes oil consumption issues etc.

Rocker cover leaks should not be an issue. Overtightening the bolts would cause damage to the gasket, properly torqued they should be an issue.

Stepper motors, big problem in FTO's, comes down to badly designed stepper, thats why mitsu came up with a new design.

Lifters, well not a fault which causes harm to the engine, but i find is the biggest pain in a arse issue, even if it doesnt cause harm to the engine. Its basically typical mitsubishi, as a lot of their cars suffer from it. This problem alone would drive me not to by a mitusi ever again. But again, can be rectified at a price.

Manaul trannies seem very reliable, auto's its a different story! Autos seem very weak. Hard to get solidnoids etc, doesnt help the price of a rebuild.

But at the end a very, very reliable car. The reliabilty isnt on par with toyotas, and nissan, but being jap, its gotta be reasonable.
