If your MIVEC makes a BOV sound, then u in trouble mate, what you heard is your filter, in short it just release the pressure though your filter, hence some effect as a BOV.akumi wrote:hahahah dats most prolly the MIVEC kicking in, dats so cool isn't it, when i pop up the bonnet and pull the acelerator wire, i can hear the loud sucking sound and when i turn off the engine too hahaha.![]()
I'm sure someone can tell you the full/long answer, if you request it.

I think, let's just ignore, all the normal sounds, like the sucking sounds from the air filter on accelaration, and the sucking on turning the car off.
The sounds that i'm really concerned is the hissing/buzzing on de-accelaration, once the accelarator has been let go, around the 3k - 4.5 k margin for me anyway.
This sound is driving me mad, at first, i liked the sound, when shifting at 4 k - 4.5k, but now, it's mega annoying.
I have had my car examined by 2 exhaust shops, to see if the sound was the flex joints, but they said that the sound wasn't from them, cos when they had it on the hoist, and revved the engine, it came from now where near my flex joints, was higher up, on the passangers side somewhere. I know Richard, had similar sound, but Richard, can u enlighten us, whether exhaust mechanics will be able to tell?
This sound i dout it's coming from the air filter for me anyway, anyway, I hope i'm not straing off topic here, though i post up my experiances with this stupid sound.

:/
well heres my 2 cents
i got a 3 icnh zorst but no pod filter, with a basicly brand new engine and it was (3k about) fairly heavily examined.
I will ask the mech i goto cus the boss owns a heavily worked GPvR and hell knwo if its normal or not.
it only happens after 6k for me and my airfilter looks to be okay
i honestly love the noise ! MIVEC BOV no VTEC YO!!!!! has that!@@
i was mainly worried someone had wanked my car with one of htose electronic BOV recordings!

I guess if you're really gunning to resolve this, get yourself a full set of exhaust manifold/pipe gaskets, then remove and refit the stuff between engine block and cat. Use gunky sealant too. Inspect everything for cracks.Boris wrote:I have had my car examined by 2 exhaust shops, to see if the sound was the flex joints, but they said that the sound wasn't from them, cos when they had it on the hoist, and revved the engine, it came from now where near my flex joints, was higher up, on the passangers side somewhere. That would have to be a DIY job to make it cost-effective... The only way it wouldn't fix it is if it's just an internal "feature" of your exhaust, I guess.
