Clutch or something else?

Post by iGerman »

Hey guys,

today I think my clutch is gone haha When the car is on I cannot shift into gears, it feels like there is absolutely no resistance in the clutch, and if I leave my car in first gear, turn it on and get off my break (with the clutch pushed down) the car will move. Is that a sign that the clutch is gone or could it be the clutch master cylinder? I read a bit in the forum but I didnt know which one mine would be.

I replaced my clutch 2 years ago and back then when the clutch went it always left a burning rubber smell, while now there is no smell?

Thanks for your help and happy aussie day :D

Either the master or slave cylinder is leaking. I reconditioned my slave for about 110 bucks or u might wanna hit Dwayne up if he has a spare. Did u notice any fluid at the bottom of the car? If I'm not wrong your clutch has gone all soft and limp right?

+1

There should be a nice sticky puddle of brake fluid under your car, and she'll have that embarrassed look of a puppy that's just peed on the new carpet.
If you can't dazzle them with dexterity, baffle them with bull...

Check to see if you have any fluid in your clutch master cylinder (on the firewall behind the engine) if not top it up and pump the clutch pedal a few times, and then check again for any leaks.
