Car from scratch

Post by Daniel2019 »

Im keen to learn my way around cars and was considering a mechanic's apprenticeship, long story short I want to build up a car from scratch (likely an FTO). Would buying a shell, dropping in an engine, etc. be cheaper than buying a complete car that is of the same specs, approximate similar Ks, etc? Probably a stupid question, apologies if I sound like a complete retard :D
I fix cars.

You wont really get an apprenticeship on here dude, but the shell im assuming depending on what your after you may get lucky.
I just found my shell although it was a real lucky find, and not by me but by sahin who knew i was looking for one :D
Maybe Dwayne will have a relatively good nic one as he has most likely stripped his ones and has a few shells, just depends on the condition, i turned down 2 because they just werent in good enough nic.

Ah yeah I was just getting at the point that as an apprentice I would want to start my own project with an FTO :D

As for shells, this would be the first place Id come to. As I said, would it be cheaper to build a car from scratch or buy one of equal specs/wear and tear?
I fix cars.

Start with a car that's more common imo.

I would but I love FTOs. If not an FTO I'd do it with something similar like a Supra

i agree, something like a honda civic hatch or toyota corolla would be much easier to work on and learn from.

If you were to buy an FTO wouldn't it be easier to get a full one then rip it apart then put it back together????
