Momo makes steering with airbag, so just ask the mod/workshop if they can get it.

Dont you need to get the car recomplianced though as you are playing around with the airbag? Also is it even legal to remove the airbag from a car that came with one?

If you getting qualify professional to replace it with the Momo airbag one, then you don't. But if you get some dodgy backyarder, then your car is not road worthy.

Its illegal to replace a steering wheel with airbag with one without airbag, unless of course, when your car is imported, its already been changed. I think you will need to disable the sensors too, if not, the lights will just come on when you start the car.

Airbag steering wheels don't come cheap either with the airbag itself already 1,000 plus. Factor in the steering wheel, should come close to $1,500. Thats why many dodgy smash repairers like to claim for airbag replacement from insurers eventhough its fine.

I saw the airbag steering wheel in the EVO 8 and thought about changing as mine was badly worn out by the previous owner. But the costs just too high.

I wanted to get mine retrim too. If you managed to find a place with retrims at a reasonable price, please let me know too. I was quoted $330-$550 for a retirm of the leather momo airbag steering wheel!

Alternatively, if you just want a colour change, you can buy paints specially for leather or vinyl and spray over. (not dyes as the leather on steering wheels are usually painted leather) I'm in the process of trying to patch up the damage done by the previous owner. The top layer of the leather was all worn and exposed the bottom softer layer. So I'm trying to repaint it to restore the finish. So far results are quite encouraging.

Hi,

On the side note, I think the boss kit for the steering wheels with air bags are different. And definately are more expensive too.

The ones you guys are talking about here are just for normal steering wheel without an air bag.

From memory that's what it is....i used to work in the car accessories shop...and going back to work there as a part timer this time...just can't get away from cars man~~~
Geez~
