without knowing which ones your talking about i can give you general information..

anything which turns... the lighter it is the less power is required to turn it... the more power that is let to create forward motion...

Unqiue Dyno prove all mods so their quoted gains should be legit...

if its for a 300z then John will be running it on his race car and it will have been proven on that...

*nods* true but one component I wouldn't lighten too much is the flywheel.

Sure you'll get a gain from lightening it as it takes less torque to spin, therefore more torque is passed to the wheels, therefore increased acceleration, it however the whole purpose of the flywheel is to keep the engine ticking over to the next cycle at lower rpm =) Lose this effect and you'll start to get a car that wants to stall at low rpm. (or in other words, its RPM level that it stalls at is raised)

Also whenever you lighten anything in the driveline the phenomenon of engine braking is lessened as there is less reciprocial mass , therefore the engine will spin up faster to the correct RPM.

So in effect, you get what appears to be a more responsive engine.

Anyways if you're gonna get a lighter flywheel, I'd suggest raising the idle RPM =) but economy starts to suffer =P

It's all fun and games =)

we were going to build a Lightend flywheel for hte manual's out there but no one wanted to lend us their car for a little while to measure and test... we were after a car that needs a new clutch as its all gotta come off anyways...

I have a carbon flywheel and the effect of a heavy duty clutch with the light flywheel is unbelievable when launched at high rpms but dricing normally is a bit of a struggle, because it stalls frequantly.
