Put me in the luckiest man alive caterogry!!!

Coming back from work, was driving they way I normally do (sometimes I give her a bit of stick), anyways, a BA red falcon comes RITE UP MY ARSE!!! and I think it's just some dickhead, in a real hurry, so I speed up, to about 100 in what was going from a 60 to a 70 zone... Then the lites go red, and so I hit the brakes....

And guess what...

I see the RED and Blue lites above his rear vision mirror start flashing.

My first reaction... OH f**k!!!!

I pull over, as soon as the lites go green, he comes to my window, goes, "100 in a 60 zone, do you have any reason for speeding?"

Me: Your were rite up my arse, I thought you were going to hit me.

Him: Give me the licences your about to loose.
Is this your car?
How long have you owned it for?
State your full name and address?

blah blah blah

He goes to his car, comes back about 2 minutes later, "is this an import?"

Me: Yup.

Checks the rego and sh*t again...

Comes back, why were you speeding?

Me: I thought, you were going to hit me... You came so close.

Him: Why didn't you change lanes?

Me: There was a car in the rite

Him: Have you ever had a speeding fine before?

Me: No

Him: I'll check that, and if you ever have, I'm taking your licence. You think, just because you have a fast car, you have to go fast. Are you on your p-plates?

me: Yes

Him: Where asre they?

Me: I was about to get some.

Him: Put them up!!!

and he drove off...

I then followed at about 40km/h in a 70 zone :p

Man, I was shaking, he said, he was going to take my licence!!! FFS!!! He was a complete prick. I guess, he could've been a million times worse, and really just do me for p-plates.. I dunno.. he really wanted to take my licence I think.

I'm just real lucky, i'm surpized it doesn't happen more often, because, I live pretty close to the station.

It was a marone, ba falcon maybe, xr6.... You just never know....

im not having a go but why do people drive around without their p plates up???

You only get 5 points on your p's which aint much for 3 years, why would u waste 3 of them by not putting em up?? not to mention the fine, what is it now like $145???

Do we only get 5 points? I thought, it was like a lot more then that.

Me personally: I havn't put em up for a few reasons.
1. Sheer lazyiness :p I've been driving so long without the plates, that it's almost comical now as well. I'll be off my P's in a few months, and I would never have been dicked for anything.

2. Outside of the above incident, I haven't noticed cops. I think cops give p-platers a harder time.

3. They fall off, and smudge my windows.

Yeah only 5, we used to get 12 back in the day but they changed it bout a year ago i think, and if u've only got a few months left on your p's then i suggest u put em up as all it takes is a hefty speeding fine couple with no p plates and u've lost it, and it's possible that the cop will remember your number plate too so if he see's u again then he can get ya for it!!

As for cops giving p platers a hard time, i havent been pulled over yet and ive passed a ton of cops, some of which have followed me for quite some time, and in my car i figured i'd b pulled over every 5 minutes, so IMO if u drive to the road rules u got nothin to worry about

If i was in a 60 zone and i had someone up my arse the first thing i would do is look to see if i can change lanes if thats not a option i feel its your duty to speed up to avoid an accident.

The cop probably thought he provoked the speeding and felt alittle guilty and let u go... Wow i cop with a heart, who would of thought 8O

i was told that p plate drivers have 12 points, but if they lose 5 points in any 12 month period their licence will be suspended... where as full licence drivers can have 3 years and 12 points

I don't know if it is different from state to state, but I do know that up here p platers have 4 points for the 3 years or maybe 5. Open licences have 12 points but can only lose 5 in 12 months or your licence is suspended.

Not likely... I could tell, from the second he came to the window, he wanted me to bend over for him.

He basically said, (i won't get the words rite) but something along the lines of.... Don't give me any bullshit, hand me the licences your about to loose. 100 in a 60 zone, with no reason.

My opinion, is he didn't have proof... he said "100" EXACT!!! I mean, come on! He didn't have it on laser, so he couldn't prove sh*t, he just wanted to pick on some young guy, driving an import. I bet he was racsist to an extent, at least, in regards to cars. If i were driving a commo ute or something, there would've been no problems.

He even asked, is this an import? Fuken asshole cop, just wanted to pick on someone, to make himself feel bigger. That was all.

So what happens if the cop didn't give me a ticket on the spot? He just said that I will get in the mail?

Cos I honestly believe that the two wouldn't of let me go, cos they were absolute bastards, never been treated so low in my life, espesially with my mum there with me.

Dumbass me, didn't jot their details down.

Ruchi, I dont understand what you are trying to say? Doesnt a summons mean u have to go to court and if you dont you will be issued with a warrant to arrest. The way I understand your post, is that if you get a ticket, you get a letter in the mail sating you have to go to court..

I thought you can go to court, if you want to appeal your fine.

To clarify, you only get a summons if the offence warrants it (e.g. loss of license).
