JIC Future alternator problem

Post by Gholdwayne »

So guys, I know that the alternator commonly dies in our FTO's. I've been looking for definite answers to something i've been wondering about.

When jumpstarting an FTO, does that contribute to killing the alternator?
Does the alternator just simply have a limited life?

I heard that GPX alternators are a bitch to remove, that's why I want to take precautions and preventative measures now...

Cheers!

Alternators die in Our cars but it's not that much of a common problem. Not much you can do but let it die. You will first notice a electrical burning smell, volt meter ready lower than it ever has and maybe a whinning noise from it.

At that stage you prob got an hour to get drive it somewhere to get fixed.

Jumpstarting does not kill alternators.

Its not just our 'precious' cars either. Its any 15 year old car with 150xxxkms or more on it...

When it dies, fix it or replace it.
