It may be a bit of a fluffy question, particularly since I don't even own an FTO at the moment.
I may be going to look at one later in the week and if I spot anything major that needs replacing would be good to know roughly how long to get hold of parts and approximate costs so I can make a decision as to whether or not it's worth the hassle.
Main things i'm thinking are:
shocks
steering rack (although if this is shot I should probably walk away)
Brake discs and pads (would imagine a few days?)
Suspension bushes
ARB drop links
Front arm bottom ball joints
Do people get stuff shipped from Camskill or are there places in Australia for most of these items? (yeah I really am that new)
Cheers,
Rob

Re: How easy is it to get most parts in WA?
I recently had my front brake discs and brake pads replaced and brake calipers rebuilt. Cost me ~$850 all up including labour. The brake discs I'm pretty sure they said were the same as those used on a Magna. They also needed some special bolt for the calipers which they sourced of Mitsubishi. All up it only took a few days.
Haven't had any other troubles (yet) so I'm not sure how hard it is to source other parts over here in WA.

Hey Rob,
Shocks are easily sourced out here. We tend to use KYB gas available from a number of places as they're manufactured locally, just have a quick search.
Brakes & pads, again can be sourced locally. Any local auto parts shops (Ie Supercheap, Repco, Auto One etc all of which I spose are the equivalent of Halfrauds) will be able to get pads for you. They're the same as the locally Sold Evo II, III & some Magna (Fat bodied 3 litre V6 Mitsi locally made) For the good stuffm have a look at these guys: http://www.racebrakessydney.com.au/
Steering rack I wouldn't replace, I'd just have it reconditioned by a driveshaft place. Last one I had done cost me about $250.
Drop Links: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-FRONT-Sway ... 2a0a3b42c1 Yep, Ebay. Tested, just as good as any other ones plus they're cheap.
Bushes are all SuperPro poly products. They're all manufactured here in Australia (Brisbane) by Fulcrum. Just have a look for the WA authorised ditributor

Oh & yes we do order from Camskill pretty regularly. Only catch is of course freight & total value. For instance a set of disc rotors weigh a ton, and as such cost a bomb to ship.
Also keep in mind total price, if it exceed a value of AUD $1000 you'll get hit by customs for both import duty & GST (10%)
Having said that, you dont pay any VAT, so take 17.5% off the listed Camskill prices.

Check the help section, Dwayne started a thread with a list of locally available parts that can be purchased.
brake discs, for a surprising cost on ebay is rather low, type in the rda part number, not FTO, they're the same as Verada ABS/ non ABS
brake pads, again, type in part number, rda brand.
rear discs, still yet to find a part number for.

I got my Shocks, Springs, Rotors and Brake Pads from RPW. Wasn't too pricey imo.
Bushes I got from WA Suspensions
Drop Links, Front Arm Ball Joints and Steering Rack I got from Pedders. Steering Rack is ~$600 for a brand new Pedders uprated one.
I can get exact prices if you want. Got a quote for all these lying around somewhere at home.
