input/output speed sensor differences (3pin 4pin)

hey, im nearly completed my tansmission changeover (after my tip tranny blew up, ordered another tip tranny, due to having paddle shifting rather than opting for the manual).

the auto i have is very slightly different, my original gearbox is my 97 gpvr box (which i assumed would be the same as the gpx 97+, but very slightly different).

up to installing the output/input sensors, my plugs on my car are 3 pin, the sensors on the new gpx box are 4 pin, i swapped the output sensor with my gpvr sensor, but my input sensor in my gpvr box was dammaged beyond repair, so i cannot switch it over

my question is, what is the 4th terminal in the sensor do? and can i just connect my 3 wires to the right 3 terminals? i have spent hours trying to trace the circuitry, and cant seem to distinguish the differences and where they lead to.

i could just do some resistance testing with the multi, but that is a bit of guess work. and i dont fully understand how that sensor works, so does anyone know how it works? (heat = resistance? or something).

or has anyone got a 3 pin sensor? i have a few sensors and a non limited slip diff that people can have or trade. soo keep that in mind if a sensor stuffs itself. thanks

EDIT: output sensor, thats the one i need, i replaced my input sensor, my output is broken (the output sensor is futher to the back of the tranny than the input isnt it?)
