Water Temperature Sensor

Hey guys,

Just wondering, you know the water temperature gauge in the main cluster of gauges, the temperature sensor for the water temperature where exactly in the cooling system is it located? Near the thermostat?

The reason I ask, is I got a water temp gauge, but I don't know if it's going to be worth installing it, if it will be measuring the same thing.

Boris, I would have thought that the sensor would be near the water pump, but don't hold me to that I'm probably wrong, I just seem to remember the sensor usually being near or in the water pump in most cars I think.
