Statutary Warantys NSW--anyone know ?

Post by basho »

In Qld a vehicle over 10 years old and under 100000ks when bought from a dealer carrys, unless sold as is where is, a 1000klm 30 day waranty. :D

I have just searched Statutary warantys in NSW and it appears that it's simple , if a vehicle bought from a dealer is over 10 years old it carries no Statutary warranty atall

Am I correct ?

Im pretty sure if its under 10 yrs its 1-3 month warrenty... either being a form from 1-4 or some crap like that...
And over 10 yrs has nothing i think... i bought 2 of my 4 cars from dealers ud think id know... lol but i forget

but for your best and most accurate answer look at the department of fair trading website the part that deals with motor vehicles.. =]

Yup I checked before and couldn't believe it , I think you're right , no wonder there's so many blues about waranty with older cars in NSW.

Dealer warranties are rubbish. They never honour them. You can go postal on them with Dept. of Fair trading & you'll win, but you'll have lost 12 months of your life & probably not own an FTO anymore by the time it settles.

Just find yourself a good mechanic & keep an eye out here & we'll be able to solve 99% of any problems you come across. I paid $23 grand for mine almost ten years ago, there aint many bolts I haven't undone...

Basho ill tell you a good mechanic... Bennoz :P

haha or if you live near seven hills colin rehier (i think thats how you spell it) he services my FTO and does a great job for a reasonable price, i got my water pump, timing belt, full service, steering rod ties ( i think thats what it was called cant be bothered finding hte reciept) and my steering boot covers all done for 1300$ (thats parts and labour)

Took him a couple of days to do it because he couldnt get the timing belt straight away but he got it for 150$ for me instead of getting the 300$ one which the only difference is the box... ridiculous haha.
