Timing Belt

I know theres a couple ways of sourcing one, ordering a galant timing belt is exact replacement right?

And which is best value

Ebay?

SuperCheap Auto?

Camskill?

GR (non mivec) Gates T954, 226 tooth belt.

I'm sure you already know, both these belts listed are aftermarket, don't bother getting a genuine one, just too expensive and no difference.

You can get your local parts shop to order one in for you.

Well i remember going to repco for a t987 belt and they wanted over $200 for

it :lol: I ended up getting one from auto1 for $150 and that was with a store

discount.Rpw sells them for $113 plus frieght.

Brenton got me to order the one for his GPX. Repco, Super Cheap and Bursons were all able to get them in within 3-4 days. Repco I believe was the cheapest at about $130-$140 (I think) however I found their staff hopeless to deal with. Super cheap was a about the same price, and Bursons was significantly dearer, although I find they're not deaf, and do know how to use a computer.

Ebay also isn't bad, think it was about $100 but it was going to take a while to get it.

EDIT: Just found where I had bookmarked the timing belt on Ebay and it was $198

Apparently it's a ball crusher of a job, cos you've gotta take pretty much everything off; if you ask Brenton (Brent 88) he did his within the last 6 months so he might be able to help you out; pretty sure he has photos as well.

6 Months to do the belt WOW! World record for the slowest timing belt change ever. They aren't the most pleasant job in the world but you get there in the end :)

can get the complete kit in burson autopart man.
$368 complete kit with the hydraulic tensioner and $230 without the hydraulic tensioner for GPX v6 mivec. cant rmb the price for GR but is way more cheaper. and there's a guy doing a dirt cheap job in camberfield melbourne and i only paid $250 for the labour and got it done in 3 days.. lol

He either fkn loves timing belts or knows a simple ass way to do it.
