What's the difference between tip and normal auto? Normal auto's give you the ability to manually select gears as well. Plant an FTO in TIP and in normal auto is will roughly give you the same acceleration.
Manual is different due to the extra gear ratio so each ratio is shorter giving better acceleration and the ability to slip the clutch at high rpm giving manual drivers a better take off. The auto forces low rpm which is bad for the FTO.
using the manual gears on a normal auto can f**k your box, u also have to hold in the button and the change takes longer. these gears are mainly for towing etc
tip's are good for downshifting which in normal auto it dosent do and if it does it waits till you can hardly hear the engine till it changes down(wont change back to first till like 5kmph)
5speed post 97 fto AUTO TIP
5 speed Manual FTO
since when are '5' and '5' different numbers? and the gear ratio's would be much the same (think the 1st gear has the biggest change compared to the 4 speed because its a lot shorter)
auto dosent force low rpm(this is where the tip comes in) it just wont let you dump the clutch like a manual although it will still let you preload the transmission to 2,500 rpm (mivec) which is enough to get a slight screech even if you have decent tyres(new soft street)

well brent your comparing chalk and cheese there mate
also wonder how long your tip will last pre loading it to 2500 before you take off
my first car i had for 3 years was an auto and ive had the fto now for a year so i guess thats 4 years preloading maybe once or twice a month then full throttle. my old piece of sh*t car i would just rev it up and dump it into drive hahaha i knew the potential consaquences i just didnt care lol
