It depends if you want factory timing belt of aftermarket. I paid about $220 for a factory one, but had offers for less then this for an aftermarket. Because its a pretty important component I wanted to make sure it was going to last another 100K.

Labour will depend mate, there are heaps of posts on this but if your getting your timing belt done, you may as well get all your other belts etc done at the same time (im assuming you havent yet). If you are getting close to 100k you will need to do all the belts, plugs, seals, possibly fuel line etc, and all the hard to get to parts inside the engine bay. Its not normally a cheap service.

The Mitsubishi dealers here in wagga said they can get me a genuine one for $280. Does anyone have any info on fitting a timing belt? I used the guide from funky fto to do the spark plugs. Its seems no one here can service my car so im doing as much as i can myself.

timing belt changes are normally part of a major service and should be done by a trained professional. as already stated they should be done when doing a major service covering everything that isn't normally serviced.

If you are a mechanic you should be able to do it quite easily (full instructions can be found in the FTO Technical Manuals) i wouldn't risk doing it yourself if you are not trained as a poor fit or not doing it properly will cost thousands in rebuilding the engine.

got my timing belt though UAS i think it was $145. Send them an email - they pretty much just need the engine type and year from memory.

It is a gates belt - i beleive that is who mitsubishi use to make the genuine part anyway.

Unique Auto Sports are the mob that smorison has been developing parts with. They are in sydney - which means there will be a postaged fee if you are outside sydney.
