Importing FTO's...

might want to clarify if it was imported 6 weeks ago or complianced 6 weeks ago.

It could be that it was imported under the old rules but have been really slow in getting it complianced.

well, that might be true, but seeing as he said that jap-link oculd compliance FTOs, its a bit irrelevant....

It is still very relevant, in fact it is the crux of the whole matter. The question is whether they can compliance them under the new rules or the old rules. If it was imported under the old rules it would be complianced under the old rules, even if this was only done 6 weeks ago.

If they can import and compliance under the new rules, then this is exciting.

hey guys
japlink ftos are great
they all come with rebuild gearbox and with some rebuilt engine parts
but they come at a high price like 25k +
i wanted to buy a black fto with advan rims from them before for 28k
but it was way too expensive
they have NOT sold a single fto since 1and a half years ago
i live near there and i alwayz see the same ones !
poor guys...
they sell a lot of skylines though

That Japlink dude was correct... They could import cars up to May 8 this year. If the car had already landed they can compliance it in the old way (i think - dont quote me on that one). May 8 onwards - no, they cant yet. I dont think the FTO has been cleared for entry yet. So 6 weeks ago would be pretty much around that date and would make sense.

Well, I don't completely like Jap Link, I have my reasons.

When I was looking for my car I found them to be very rood, and yes slow sometimes. Their prices are extremely high...

I asked if the price of an fto that cost 27 something could be reduced to a more realistic figure, and I basically got a reply that if I do find one that is good under that mark then I should by it and not waste their time...

I don't dout that something iffy is going on with them...

hmm as i said before guys
although japlink has expensive tags
but they all come with rebuilt boxes
that cost like 3k
and usually u can reduce their price by 3k and they have 3year warranty unlike most which only provide 3months because of the law
but still their prices are high
but hey...all the ftos there have been treated nicely and all look new

i wish their price was lower so i could have bought one from them !
BUT gain...they havent sold ANY for ages

But don't u even wonder why most of the FTO they got there is either got rebuild gearbox or engine?

If its not faulty at the first place, why would a dealer go & spend time & money to fix it? Doesn't that makes u question about the quality of imports they bring in at the first place?

My thoughts exactly Kev.

When I was buying, I made a decision of buying a good cheap FTO, and then with the money I save by doing so, I can then have left overs if my engine does blow up, and in the end, it still would be cheaper, then Jap Link.

And even if they do bring in decent fto's in, and then rebuild some of the components, wtf would be the point of that? Wouldn't it be better to sell them, for cheaper and be prepared to pay for a rebuild if it does happen... under the customers warranty?

ok, i spoke to the guy this morning, and he said that it had been complied under the new rules

although i think what Daz_FTO said about up til May 8 seems more likely...

the one i looked at was a 95 white manual GPX, apparantly llanded here 6 weeks ago. It was stickered at 28 large, but i think theyre kind of desperate to get rid of it, seeing as he almost immediately dropped 4 grand off the price without me even looking over the car and trying to haggle...(just on a side note, the car felt nice and solid on the road, no rattles etc...probably be worth inspecting for someone who actually had the money

unlike me)

by the way fto617, the three year warranty was optional, and cost an extra $1500...other than that its the 3 month statutory...

anyways, it would be worth someone following up and phoning to ask whether they do the new RAWS compliancing...
