FTO Trade In Value Question
I'm selling my FTO and I'm going around to car yards to check on Trade In Valuations for it. SImple enough you think? Noooo.
I was at a well know Holden dealership this weekend and was told that I had "real problems under the hood". Well, to say I was shocked is an understatement. So, I did what you typically do when confronted with that information, I asked "What the *&$% do you mean?" Í was totally unprepared for the answer. I was told it was only worth half what I was expecting because, and I quote, "Everything had been replaced, everything is new and it drives like new so the value is less"
What?!?! Yep, they said they'd taken it into the workshop and the mechanics had gone over it and because everything had been replaced the value is less because it's "suspicious" that maybe it was a "hoons" car and that's why.
**sigh** Can anyone enlighten me on this?? I'm flabbergasted by it all. How can replacing stuff and keeping a car sound reduce the value??

What an absolute crock of sh*t!!
Play along and get him to put it in writing, then take it to Fair Trading, or if they have one, they're industry ombudsman. Or maybe even Today Tonight.
Absolute BS! They're trying to screw you...

Re: FTO Trade In Value Question
Sell it privately, that's the best solution because trade-in value will not give you it's true value

This, the only time you trade it in is when it is an absolute piece of crap.
