car is in limp mode and speedo doesnt work

i've read through the forums on the issues and was just wondering could the same problem causing both of the things to happen.

1. check fuses (under bonnet and dash)
2. Check error codes ;)

Not likely linked. Tacho is probably igntion failure sensor. As VipFTO said, youll need the error codes for the transmission anyway, so grab those and see what it comes up with.

    is it the speedo only that isnt working or the whole cluster?

    if its the whole cluster he wouldnt be able to check the codes

    yea its only the speedo and the odometer thats out, everything else in the panel is still working.

    that could just be speedo sensor (located in gearbox at back near firewall)
