Front seat retrim..
Hello,
Just wondering if any one has done this..
I wonder if you can retrim your front seats with another colured material or fabric...not leather..
Everyone is going on about retriming in leather but I don't want to do that I just want some other plain coloured seat..
Has any one done this or know of any one who can do it?
Will it cost a lot less then retriming in leather?
Thank you,

$1200 got me all four seats plus door cards retrimmed in two tone Macrosuede. It looks and feels identical to suede but costs substantially less than suede (or leather). It was approx $44 per lineal metre from memory but that was nearly a year ago now. This price was based on the work that I had done here in Brisbane though. However you should expect that fabric will be cheaper than leather anywhere.

i dropped into a place around the corner from me, the guy looked at the car inside out, after asking what it was, and saying "if i were you, and im not, i wouldnt touch a thing in this car, its beautiful as it is." lol couldnt argue with him there lol. he saw it with the first stage of my interior painting project.
anyway he offered to put two colour vynal on the front and back seats, on the material in the doors, and the little bit in the corners of the dash, where the vents are you know the ones. oh and he added puting vynal over the plastic circuler part on the walls in the back seats, coz i punctured a hole through the passanger side with my TV (forgot it was in the back and turned a corner fast
) all this in ANY colour i chose, his brother owns a fabric company so he said pick the most outrageous colour and he will get it lol, for how much you wish to know???
$650. there was a lancer half done parked in there and i saw the half that was complete, looked like a very good job. he also said that if i wanted he could do the whole dash, but admitted he was VERY hesitant to touch the dash of this car so if i take it out he said no problem. obviously with the dash it would cost a fair bit more, but all the other stuff he said for $650 is pretty cheap i thought.
that was on monday... since then i have been carefully convincing the missus that she should let me do it...
the look in her eyes when i mention it tells me i need a new approach lol

a large component of the price you pay to a trimmer is for their labour, so if you have the skills and confidence to do it yourself then you'll be able to save a lot of money.
Remember also that there are about 5 grades of leather, so you don't necessarily have to fork out big bucks, unless you want the best.

yep vynal is indeed a cheap material, but thats why i asked for vynal to see how much that would cost. its on blackshaws road bugger if i can remember the number, but its next to a karate or some crap place hidden behind a car repair joint. thats blackshaws road in altona and its on the same side as the macdonalds and KFC, a block up from there i believe. hope that helped lol
yep im with ruchi, if you can do it yourself you would savve a bundle, but thats the case with everything really, mechanics, upholsterers, painters you name it, your paying hands more then parts or material.
oh and i also got a quote from another upholsterer on melbourne road newport, he offered to do the same things including insignias, like FTO stitching on the seats or anywhere i wanted, all for $800-$1000. not too sure, my old man is a master in all trades, i believe if i got good leather for cheap he could easily do it, being a perfectionist with anything around cars i bet my left nut he would do a pro job. so ive been considering that... not sure
