everyone says its a drug, it preety much is, but the reason the government hasnt banned it is because they get so much money from it. they put out endless campaigns, high taxes and these newer anti-smoking schemes... yet if its so bad why is it still legal?
theyve tried to cover up this easy money-grab for far too long.
no smoking = government loss in money, bet you free to air tv wont be free anymore or some other bullshit
smoking = government $$$ win
I agree but why should they tax a minority so highly? Yes cigs should be taxed like everything else but only to the extent of what costs they may incur on the system and I8A4RE wast spot on by saying that they will be less of a burden than someone who manages to hang around for 100yrs. So to make up the extra $$$ they need why just tax a minority where they should tax everyone be it via raising GST or some other means?koolio1234 wrote:no ones making you use Medicare, get your own private health insurance. I agree that this labour government is fucked and that Mr Rudd holds a startling resemblance to Mr Sheen but it just seems that you just have to accept that if they don't tax ciggies, they'll just find something else to tax to f**k us over. They exhibit the same desperation as many other labour governments before them trying to pull themselves out of an inevitable national deficit.
That my friend is a huge load of bullshit. (as in it sucks).. lol.. Not disagree'ing with you.I8A4RE wrote:The main street leading to our house has always been a 70km area and it's reasonable rural. Now it looks as they have made their budget and last week the sign was put back to 70km. IS THAT NOT f**ken REVENUE RAISING OR WHAT???

Its not bulllshit, I support that rule, same way as I support no smoking close to schools or in shopping malls... Heavily populated area's need a place for smokers but at hospitals its a different story because recovering patients are out and about... That rule makes allot of sense, and I'm happy to walk across the road if I feel the urge to smoke

2 think of all the surjurys that are done on smokers cause they smoke what about surGery for people overwieght, drug addicts, rehabilitation for anorexia etc.
3 they may need a transplat and get it over some one else who dosent smoke when its wrong as they cause it to happen in the first place no they dont it was on 60MINUTES ages ago that these people do not get priority and go on the waiting list just like everyone else... but i do agree with you
4 every time u light up 1 its hurts the people around you and im sure its f**king the world up to all the exhaust fumes you smell in the city is just as bad. what about polution? should trucks now get taxed for being on the road?

depending on the person they wil either cut back give up or starve to death cause they bought ciggys insted
