Oil + Alternator = MIX?

Post by redevil01 »

Hey all,

I had some alternator issues about 6 months back and had the alternator replaced.

I know iv got an oil leak somewhere under the car however recently when i had the car up on a hoist it looked like they could be crawling toward the alternator.

Has anyone ever heard/or had oil fly up into their alternator and write it off completely?

A small amount will burn out, but lots will hurt it.

Its probably coming from the rear cam seal.

Agreed, I also had issues where oil leaking from my turbo return line got into my starter burning it out too...

I watched the guy recondition it and it was literally full of black sludge!
