Speed Restrictor

Post by Dempsey »

After a lunch room discussion on some jap imports, the topic of limitations of speed came up.
is it true that imports are all limited to 180km, and if so is the fto?
i would check my self but i stick to the speed limit........... ;)
......anyone know if a limiter is on and how to take it off?

Yes all jap cars are limited.
As for taking them off well the only reason to do that is if you are setting it up to race on the track. But even then you would be lucky to get it over 180 with out heavy mods done to the car, and a long strait.

As just tested by shane001 out on the track at Bathurst, you cut pin 86 on the ECU (yellow wire with white stripe) to remove the speed limiter.

Or drive it off a cliff, pretty sure you'll break 180.
