Brisbane to Melbourne move

Post by Rj-Fto »

Hi All,

I might be moving to Melbourne from Brisbane in a month's time. I was wondering whether it is a good idea to take my fto with me or sell it in Brisbane. Is it too much hassle to get it registered etc in Melbourne?
The vehicle is currently registered and in very good working condition in Queensland.

Any ideas???

Cheers,
Rj

It should be very easy, just go to vicroads and have a look at the registration section. I think it's about $850 to get it newly registered for Victoria, much less hassle then selling it and buying a new one ;)

dude, have you not noticed all the cars from other states in QLD?

the only time driving in another state with another state's rego is a problem is when it comes to renewal time, as you won't have a qld residential address for them to post the renewal to. ;)

Cool..If I got it right..My rego is due in first week April. So, if I pay 12 mths rego in QLD then I can drive the car(with QLD number plates) in Victoria for another 12 mths?? Is this legal?

if you get pulled over just tell them you are only down for a short time for work and you will be going back after that.
