Tapping noise at pedals ? not tappets related.

Post by redevil01 »

Hey Team,

I have a manual GPX 95 and I drive it daily to work. However 5 minutes of the drive is on a particular road that is modestly bumpy.

I have found that in the last week a noise has developed from the engine bay every time I drive over those bumps and now more consistently any time I hit a bump/elevated/lowered part of the road, excluding speed bumps as im driving to slow for it to tap.

Sound: It sounds like a light, loose part of metal, similar to the rod that would normally hold up the bonnet of an fto. It sounds like that rod is lose and tapping every time I drive over a bump. Eg > Tap, tap, tap?.and no its, not the rod, its secured ;) also its 99% not a loose door speaker.

Location: It sounds like it is located in the engine bay, exactly where the alternator is, if not a tad lower ? keep in mind I can only guess from the driver?s seat while driving. And on occasions I can actually feel it in the pedals.

This is freaking me out cos im thinking it might be something serious, I just don?t want an wheel falling off the axel!!

Any idea appreciated.
