Really does look good Bennoz, 5 secs flat to 100 with traction ? That's damn quick for a fwd =/ I bet the rolling acceleration is an eye opener..

I had a tosser cruise up next to me yesterday in his fully hektic S13 Silvia, popping his blow off valve as he went past me & then slowed up & did it again.

We were cruising about 60kmh, so I just knocked it back to second & smoked the sh*t outta the front, covered him in tyre rubber & smoke, then just relaxed back into 4th. My speed didn't change  Needless to say, he backed right up... slowly faded back into traffic behind me

Bit of an update guys.

Nvr2low, you'll be interested in this. I still have a cooling issue, on a hot day, it get super hot. Whilst it doesn't overheat as such, it just gets to a point where I have to lay off the boost & putt around till the temp drops back to a normal level. I've changed the kick in point for the fans on the Haltech to 85 degrees, which is a bit earlier than normal & its still doing it.

So I did some homework on fans. Apparently more expensive is not always better! I had 2 x 10" Davies Craig fans, they flow about 850cfm. I did some measurements on the radiator & found I could fit 1 x 12 inch fan in place of one of the 10's. So I checked up the 12" Davies craig fan & it flows more, about 1050cfm. Problem is, the $200 price tag for 1 goddam fan. So I called VPW & got the low down.

Here's what I ended up buying:
http://www.vpw.com.au/product.asp?CatID ... dID=203377

For 80 bucks, a 12" ACE brand fan that flows 1400cfm! Should arrive tomorrow & I"ll put it in & show results :)

Apart from that, she's back on the dyno later in the week to get a few issues ironed out. Whilst it idles, it idles wherever it pleases... could be at 700rpm, could be at 1400rpm. Its also pinging slightly up higher in the range. That & finally getting the vernier cam timing done :)

Also still have intake piping to be made (I just have little K&N filters wacked on the turbos a the moment lol.)Gotta swap out one of the gear linkage cables & the mounting bracket is almost fucked too, so will need to replace both of those.

Then its down to the electrical gremlins :? Still can't get air con to work, rear demister needs wiring in & finally the nitorus micro switch needs to be wired into the Haltech too.

Oh & the alarm & ciggie lighter have just sh*t themselves this week  Its always the way, fix one problem & you get 2 f**king new ones for your troubles!

um just to let you know ben a 12 inch fan wont fit onto our radiator i have already tried this and it is to big and the brackets wont fit onto the radiator. Like you wont be able to use those ties that go through the radiator. tell me how you go with the 12 inch fan

does yours get hot from sitting in traffic or just driving around man.
mine gets hot from sitting in traffic never on the boost but then i am not running as much boost yet as you. when mine gets hot you have to pull over the temps wont come back down but hasent done it since the flush and water wetter.

I got a couple for ya..

Stopped at some lights in a 3 lane avenue some chick pulls up beside me in what I assume was her dad's 540 v8 bimmer or something, I'm just chatting with my mate when her BF yells out the window "FTO's are a girls car!" I replied with "oh really? wanna put a hundy on me beating that POS?" to which the drunk little dumass said sure, I knew they wouldn't pay as neither would I. At that point I did the quick vroom chhhh (this was before my 3" exhaust and wheels, so she looked stock), the dude went white and I left her in a cloud of tyre smoke.

Same night (this is all just after I got the car btw) I was on another 3 lane avenue and some tosser in a 'modded' GTO pulled up beside me and was doing his blowy thing, then just before the lights went green he sat it on launch control and gunned it, the whole time I am sitting there just idling, then I feathered it (have to to keep traction) and caught him at the end of first gear, then paused to let him get ahead, then hit it hard in second and passed him with tyres spinning. Next set of lights we came to he wouldn't come up beside me.

2 of my 3 losses were both Sylvias, on the same weekend; much the same sorta thing, though I was cocky myself. Both pulled up on either side of me on another 3 lane avenue (there are 3 of them in CHCH) and I gave them a little sh*t, "what's the retail on one of those?" they were both heavily kitted, roll caged and all that. They whooped me nicely, both fish tailing, then I saw them both drifting at Ruapuna the next day.

My third loss was by a GTR, wiped the floor with me on the weekend of some drags at Ruapuna. Turns out it was an 11 second car XD

The very NIGHT I picked up my car (still looking stock as a rock) I am on the avenues again stopped, this guy pulls up beside me in his (I have to say) beautiful RX8 with 2 stunning blondes in it. I told my mate to look at his car with shear admiration at both the car and the chicks. They were all laughing at this little red FTO with 2 guys in it, probably joking about hair dressers and the like. He revved his rotang and gave me the small index/thumb gesture to which I just grinned. He was off (without any wheel spin btw, was quite a nice launch) and I just slowly took off, barely any boost, got to second and did it again, rolling out to about 5k rpm still with bugger all boost (didn't want him to hear the BOV), he was about 2 car lengths ahead, chicks looking back, I hit 3rd and spooled her up in a big f**king cloud of smoke and screamed past him. Next lights his mouth was wide open in shock, and my mate picked up the passenger in the RX8 (not the doods GF though).

Again, same night, some old fucker in a 350z (stock) had some hot young chick with him, they pulled up beside me, mate said again "what's the retail" this old bastard actually said "more than you can afford" we both burst out laughing and I vroom chhh a couple times, he decided to take the next left the pansy haha.

Best win was a beautiful R32 GTR in gold, large kit and the like, but stock. I had talked to him in the past about his and my car, but never had the chance to line them up. He revved up and took off and I just spooled off the line (as you do with small twins). By 2nd I was ahead of him by half a car length at about 130kph. We talked later, and I know he would have had the legs on me and beaten me on the quarter, but it was still my best street based race.

There are many more...

DISCLAIMER: All of this happened when I first got my car, I don't act like that any more and I don't say that anyone should.

Ben, this is wierd. My car is doing exactly the same thing. Alarm not working central locking, a/c not working, map lights not working. I think it may somehow be linked to wiring in the ECU but im not sure. Are your map lights working?

I still own you all in the sleeper department :P
Only reason anyone looks at my car is cause it sounds like a wrx.

These wiring issues you guys are having sound bloody weird and annoying, kinda makes me second guess on hardcore modding ours. :?

I hear ya nvr2low, it's always the same. Ignorant soapbox drivers haha. I really love having an understated car mate, it's nice to just be able to look at the car beside ya andthink "ha, I don't even need to try"

As for the wiring issues, if you remember a couple of months ago, I posted about my dash being dead. Through research I found out that there was a recall for the FTO regarding wiring from a loom near the bonnet release that had to be replaced sometime around 1995; of course that loom is the one to the interior fuseible link.

I pulled my entire dash out until I realised I couldn't reach the loom clips and gave up in disgust before putting it all back together, and it ended up fixing the problem I had. I think that I had inadvertently moved the loom away from what was causing problems.

I cannot find the link that had the recall information, can't remember what I typed into google that day :S

Have you guys been having the problem since the engine swap/mods etc? Because my issue just randomly happened one day last year upon acceleration, all illumination and guages just died; replace fuse only to blow it again after a few mins. Odd thing is, after dismantling and putting it all back together I haven't had any issues...

^^^ no mine just did it one day too.

I was cruising along motorway last week indicated to change lane. Instead of the indicator coming on the hazard lights did and the speedo dropped to zero, tacho was fine though. As soon as I flicked the indicator off it went back to normal. Flick on it would do it again, off back to normal. Now it hasnt done it since....... weird

Finally made the intake piping / filters up today. Its one of the big hurdles I've been try to sort.

Check the amount of bends & welding we had to do to get the rear pipe up, over & out 8O Yet to make the air box, thats the next bit of fabrication, along with a custom catch can to mate up with it.

Also polished up the remainder of the existing pipe work :D
Also managed to belt myself in the head super hard when the polishing wheel (attached to 3 phase 415V motor) nabbed an edge of the pipe & span it round & cracked me. Split my lip & cracked my tooth :x

Wow that looks good man but wouldn't it be better having them face forward and with a induction pipe into them. Hey man how is that 12inch fan going I got one here and don't see how it is going to fit as it looks to big for the radiator.

Filters will be completely boxed with a feed coming in from the front of the car, feeding directly into the top of the box.

Not installed the fan, it only arrived this arvo. If you do the math, the total vertical distance on the radiator between tanks is 330mm. Total vertical height of this ACE 12" fan is 315mm (including cage) - The total size of the 12" Davies Craig fan was 335mm :?

Think about it, 12 inchs = 305mm.

This one will fit thou :)
